The building is supported by 18 ft x 18 ft square footings. The steel skeleton, weighing 13,000 tons, consists of 7126 beams connected by 89,000 bolts. The project required the excavation of 200,000 cubic yards of dirt. The Caltrans Building was featured as the subject of a History Channel show entitled "Modern Marvels: Building a Skyscraper.".
