1855 (Royton) Squadron was formed at the Bath Mill in the Town Centre near the current location of the swimming baths. The Squadron number (1855) actually comes from the date above the door of the Bath Mill. In 1951, the Squadron moved to our present location on Park Lane and leased a seventeen acre site from the ‘Royton Urban District Council’.

The 44 cadets from 12 countries, including China, South Korea, the USA and Australia, visited 1855 Squadron Royton Air Training Corps as part of a two-week visit. The international cadets were welcomed to Royton ATC and given the chance to take part in sporting events and academic studies, as well as pitching a tent and learning field crafts.
